Pleurothallis truncata

I was really pleased when I first saw these flowers at the end of last month, as I have not flowered this species before. However, they do seem to be taking their time. When I looked closely, they are still only buds. Click here to see better developed flowers.

Brassadastele Senne Orange

In last month's Blog, it still had several buds but now it is fully open. Behind it to the right, the spike in bud is a separate piece of the same plant. An old backbulb had been removed a couple of years ago and cultivated, resulting in a second, though as yet smaller, plant.
I plan to use this plant but not this picture for the BOC Photographic Competition. I will wash the leaves and get rid of the dead section partly hidden by the stem of the spike. Remove it from the greenhouse - away from all the other dead bits - and stand it on some coloured fabric - first attempt will be dark green - and use this same orientation of the spike. Well, time will tell.

These are some kiki's of Dendrobium Ellen that I potted up and have grown on. The buds in the middle are Sergioara Yokosuka Story. At the back are flowers of D. Lutin Blanc.

I was pleased with this photograph and its atmospheric lighting. I have had the plant for several years and it has been very shy to flower. However. It is now growing well - maybe the half teaspoon of blood fish and bone did help!
